Recommendations on rain and electrical discharges in Cusco
COMMUNIQUE🚨
In light of the recent announcement by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (SENAMHI) regarding the occurrence of rainfall and thunderstorms in various areas of Cusco region, the Regional Government of Cusco, through the Regional Management of Foreign Trade, Tourism, and Handicrafts, issues the following recommendations:
✅ FIRST: To all tourism operators, we recommend temporarily suspending operations to the Rainbown Mountain, Palccoyo, Humantay Lagoon, and other attractions located in the highland areas of Cusco region due to adverse weather conditions that could pose a risk to the life and safety of tourists.
✅ SECOND: National and international tourists are asked to verify that the tourism operators they hire (travel agencies, guides, hotels, etc.) are properly registered with the relevant authorities. This information can be checked via the following link: https://consultasenlinea.mincetur.gob.pe/directoriodeserviciosturisticos/DirPrestadores/DirBusquedaPrincipal. It is crucial not to be deceived by informal agencies that do not have the necessary licenses and authorizations to operate in Cusco region.
✅ THIRD: It is essential for operators to review and update their safety protocols to deal with any unforeseen events during tourism activities. They should also maintain constant communication with tourists regarding the weather conditions, which can be verified on the SENAMHI website via the following link: https://www.senamhi.gob.pe/main.php?dp=cusco&p=pronostico-meteorologico. Tourism operators must inform visitors of associated risks and ensure that all safety recommendations are followed.
