Reopening of the entrance to the Salkantay mountain and the Humantay lake from April 10th, 2025
The District Municipality of Mollepata, through its Tourism and Environment Department, informs travel agencies, tour operators, and tourists in general visiting Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain of the following:
First: Following maintenance work on the Mollepata-Balcompata road and the opening of an alternate route for access to the attractions of Humantay Lake and the District Municipality of Mollepata, in coordination with the muleteer organizations, transport organizations, tour operators, among others, access to the attractions of Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain will reopen starting Thursday, April 10th, 2025.
Second: As is known, the rainy season is still ongoing. For this reason, travel agencies, tour operators, tour guides, and visitors in general are urged to take the necessary safety precautions in the areas of “Balcompata” and “Llañuhuayco” ravines, as they could be activated at any time and cause damage, are hereby requested to protect and safeguard the health and safety of tourists.
The Mollepata District Municipality, in partnership with the Regional Transportation and Communications Management, will begin periodic maintenance of the Mollepata–Balcompata–Soray road in May to improve vehicle transit and ensure safe access to the attractions of Humantay Lake and the Salkantay Mountains.
