The places we will visit are: the main temple of the Sun known as the "Qoricancha", "Sacsayhuaman" known as the head of the Puma in reference to the city of Cusco which was built in a shape of a Puma, and the head of the puma was exactly in the place of Sacsayhuaman. We will visit Qenqo Temple in honor of Mother Earth or Pachamama. Then we will continue with our bus to Pucapucara which in the time of the Incas was an entry control to the sacred city of Cusco. Later, we will visit Tambomachay, an Inca temple in honor of the natural element of water.

8:30 a.m. Pick up from your hotel to begin our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will be leaving the city and reach the viewpoint of Taray from where we can enjoy the beautiful Inca terraces and existing farmland which surrounds the sacred river of the Incas "Willcamayuc". Later we´ll visit Pisaq the archaeological Park as well as the Native American market which is very colorful, just like the local people!

The Pisaq Andean Market is the best place to shop for crafts and souvenirs. After some free time, we will continue our journey to the village of Urubamba, where we will have lunch at a delicious buffet.

Continuing our journey we´ll reach the last living Inca town "Ollantaytambo". Ollantaytambo reminds us of a mythical love story, a drama of love that prevails against all obstacles. It is believed that this city was built by General Inka Ollanta in a time of rebellion against the Royal army of the Inca by preventing a marriage of the beautiful princess Cusi Qoyllor or "Beautiful Star".

A 40 minute drive takes us to Chinchero. Surrounded by the colonial houses, we will again discover the magnificence of the Incan constructions, terraces and the beauty of the local people in their traditional dress, all surrounded by the local temple where we´ll appreciate the paintings of local people who later where well-known as the creators of the "Escuela Cusqueña" style of painting. There is a colonial church rich in art and jewelry, well appreciated by their population.

Lunch is included on this tour in the town of Urubamba.

Day 5 : Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa

At 4:30 am we will pick you up from your hotel, and start our trip to Mollepata by tourist bus. Mollepata is an Andean village where a nice and hot local breakfast is waiting for us. At 9:00 am we will begin our Salkantay Trek, a hike up to Tres Cruces, with a spectacular lunch over the Limatambo Valley. We then continue our trek to Markokasa, enjoying the beautiful landscape along the way and our first view of the Salkantay Mountain. And at about 4:30 pm we arrive in Soraypampa (3,850m or 12,600ft), our first campsite and the highest and coldest of the trip.

Meals: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner.

Day 6 : Soraypampa – Huayracpunku – Collpapampa

Day 6 : Soraypampa – Huayracpunku – Collpapampa
Day 6 : Soraypampa – Huayracpunku – Collpapampa

We will have a hot breakfast at around 5:30 am and begin our walk to the highest pass on this trek (4650m/15200ft) located halfway between two huge mountains: the Salkantay (6271m/20575ft) on the right and Humantay (4120m/13500ft) on the left. From the pass, the views of the two snow-capped mountains are incredible. There may be a possibility of snow here. We will have a short ceremony known as Payment to Mother Earth or Pachamama (Jaywarikuy), in which we leave some coca leaves between the rocks asking permission to continue our trip.

We will continue our walk downhill through a dramatic cloud forest until we arrive to Huayracpunku where we have lunch. We’ll start hiking after lunch in the direction of the jungle, towards Challhuay Pampa, following the course of the Salkantay River until we reach our second campsite, Colcapampa (3000m/9800ft), surrounded by astonishing Andean scenery.

Meals: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner.

Day 7 : Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba – Santa Teresa

Day 7 : Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba – Santa Teresa
Day 7 : Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba – Santa Teresa

After our breakfast at around 6:30 am, we pass through several valleys, crossing the Lluskamayo River and a variety of little brooks. We’ll spend our time appreciating some wonderful views of waterfalls, tropical fruit, colorful birds and various native plants. The path is less demanding with a usually warm climate. We have lunch on the way to be able to enjoy more of the vibrant valleys following the sacred river for about one and a half hours until the waterfalls from Hydroelectric.

These falls are about twelve meters high and are fed by the crystal clear melt waters of the sacred Mount Yanantin. From the falls, the trail continues up to the ridge before becoming lost in the increasingly dense vegetation. This is a dramatic, fertile landscape, with coffee, banana and avocado plantations carved from the forest and pristine areas that are the natural habitat of mammals such as the spectacled bear and hundreds of species of birds and butterflies, some of them endemic to the region. This teeming forest is hung with bromeliads and many varieties of orchids, some of which have only recently been identified by biologists.

We finally arrive in Machupicchu village (Aguas Calientes) to overnight in our comfortable hotel.

Optional: You can go on an early night visit to the Aguas Calientes' Hot Springs where the entrance fee is US $4.
